🎃 3 spooky scenarios and how to deal with them

Boo!

Hiya friends! Did you know that candy corn was invented in the 1880s and was first called “chicken feed”?! This is your reminder to hit up the grocery store for discounted Halloween candy on Sunday…

Song of the day: Staying on the Halloween theme for today, we’re bumping Rihanna’s “Disturbia” as our little mood booster.

Need to vent? Want advice? Have feedback? We wanna hear from you! And while you’re at it…listen to Are You Mad At Me? wherever you listen to podcasts!

3 Spooky Scenarios and How to Deal With Them

It’s spooky season!! And what’s scarier than our millennial anxiety taking over our brains for absolutely no good reason?

Whether it’s your friend’s dry texting that’s convinced you that they’re mad at you, your boss scheduling a mysterious “Quick Chat” where you’re certain you’re getting fired, or your uncle talking politics making you to want to pull out your own protest sign, life can be pretty scary at times. But it doesn’t have to be!

Let’s talk about these everyday horrors that send us into a spiral and how to stop letting them haunt us.

👻 1. When your friend just texts you “K.”

The spooky part: One letter, 1,000 possible meanings. Suddenly, you’re racking your brain and making up scenarios in your head of why your friend all of a sudden hates you.

How to deal: If there’s no logical reason for your friend to be short in their response, don’t let one letter send you into a spiral. They’re most likely just busy or distracted. To ease your mind, send a quick “Is everything alright text?” to keep yourself from freaking out.

💀 2. When your boss schedules a mysterious meeting

The spooky part: A calendar invite titled “Quick Chat” with no agenda. Naturally, you assume you’re getting fired.

How to deal: Resist the urge to catastrophize and just ask for context. A simple work chat asking for clarity or if there’s anything you can prepare should help you get to the bottom of the mystery meeting.

🧛 3. When Your Uncle Asks Who You’re Voting For at Family Dinner

The spooky part: You came for the chicken enchiladas, not to start beef at the table with your uncle who absolutely makes it known he doesn’t share the same beliefs as you and never will.

How to deal: If he can’t listen to your side without wearing his red hat, it’s not worth the trouble. Set a boundary, keep it light, and redirect the conversation.

Friendly Reminder: get to the polls for early voting this week or next Tuesday! 🇺🇸 đŸ—łď¸
