Are you mad at me? (our new podcast!!!)
Follow, rate, comment!
Hi friends! We missed ya! For those who didn’t see our Instagram story last week (you’re following us, right??), we both unfortunately and coincidentally had grandmothers pass away, and decided to practice what we preach and take some time to feel our feelings.
We’re back and feeling better than ever, the best we can right now, so we’re rolling with it.
One thing that’s keeping our spirits up this week? WE LAUNCHED A PODCAST TODAY! Which brings us to our listening pick of the week…
Today’s tunes: We’ve been working on this for quite some time now, and we’re super pumped to share our trailer for our new podcast, Are You Mad At Me? Keep reading to find out how you can help ensure the technical difficulties were worth it! 😅
Have a Q for us? Yap to us here.
Introducing Are You Mad At Me? (a podcast)
question
Will you ever bring back Millennial Made?? Or start a new podcast? —R.
answer
Once upon a time, Rod had a podcast called Millennial Made, chatting about any and all things, well…Millennial. And although he had a blast doing it, life happened, and it was all a little too stressful for the old mental health.
Enter: Gabi and WorkDaze! While the two of us have VERY different working styles, we realized we make a pretty killer team. And since birth (not to be dramatic or anything), Gabi had a dream of making a podcast, so here we are doing the damn thing. Did we mention it's self-produced?!
Meet… Are You Mad At Me? (a podcast) Every Wednesday, we’ll put our yapping skills to the test (what, like it’s hard?) to chat about everything life throws our way, including our greatest icks, why you should be nice to the intern, and what 00s moments live rent-free in our brains.
But wait… there’s more (we’ve always wanted to say that)! Each week, we’ll answer questions and give listeners advice (we swear it’s good). So keep sending those Qs, and we’ll not only continue to circle back with answers in these newsletters here, but now on the pod too!
Here’s the little catchy catch, though… we need your help!
1.) Head over here to follow us
2.) Give us a 5-star rating ⭐️
3.) Comment and let us know what you want us to talk about on the pod!
The first full episode drops next week on September 4th. We’re so excited for you to listen; hope you love it!
What To Do When Your Boss Ignores You
question
I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, and my director is aware, yet she always asks why I’m not eating the treats at our all-hands meetings. I know I’m just one person on a team of 20, but as time goes on, I've started feeling disregarded. Even when we celebrate birthdays (including my own), I can never enjoy a cupcake. What can I do to get across to my director? —M.
answer
It may feel like your boss is doing this to spite you, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and guess she’s too busy to stop and think about the situation for a second. But that doesn’t make it okay!
Here’s what we’d do:
Ask your director to meet and let them know that their disregard doesn’t sit well with you. Depending on how comfortable you are discussing your intolerance, you can let them know the severity, reiterate that it isn’t safe for you, and ask if they can include a gluten-free option when bringing in treats. 15% of the U.S. population has some gluten intolerance, so if our math is mathin’, that means a few of your coworkers probably do too.
If your director still doesn’t get it after your little chitty chat, head to HR and let them know how you’re feeling. HR should be able to 1) speak with your director about the issue separately or 2) provide alternative options for your dietary needs.
This may seem like a small request, but work is a place where you should feel safe and valued as much as the rest of the team. We’re sending you the biggest virtual GF birthday cake and wish you luck in getting your point across.
Need some advice? We wanna hear it here!
…after you listen to Are You Mad At Me?
First cottage cheese, now cucumbers, so of course, we’re hopping on the trend. Logansfewd, on Instagram, has a ton of different cucumber salad recipes, like this sushi cucumber one, which will be our new hyper-fixation meal in the unforeseeable future. Don’t forget the MSG (obviously)!
40% of a survey shows Gen Z and Millennials say they’d quit their job because of their employer or CEO’s political stance. In this Forbes article, Rachel Wells suggests setting certain boundaries at work to keep the tension at bay.
Mental health matters! Australian weatherman, Nate Byrne, had a panic attack on TV and became an inspiration to others. Props to his co-anchor for helping him navigate through it. Now, that’s what we call a good coworker!
You’re the best for hanging with us today! Your deliverable for next week is to follow, rate, and comment on the Are You Mad At Me? trailer. We’ll catch ya next week, same place, same time.
