How to seal the deal after an interview

Hang in there!

Hey friends. What. A. Week. We feel like we’ve lived 100 lives since last week’s WorkDaze. A friendly little reminder to take a time out every now and then if you need it! Lotssss going on rn.

Today’s tunes:Where Is The Love?” by Black Eyed Peas seems pretty appropriate this week, don’t ya think?

You’re All Welcome Here 🫶

Monday’s inauguration of Donald Trump has left many of us on edge. His words and quick signing of executive orders, make it clear he’s not in support of many who indeed “Make America Great,” including immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and those trying to save our planet.

Here at WorkDaze, we’ve worked to create a community where everyone belongs, feels safe, and is respected. And as this time of uncertainty can be overwhelming and emotionally draining, we want to make sure you’re all taking care of yourselves. We’ve listed out a few resources below if you’re looking for additional information and/or organizations you can support.

988 Lifeline: You are not alone. Whether you're facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, 988 is there to help.

Earth Justice (climate change): Learn more about the effects of Trump’s backing out of the Paris Agreement, and how Earth Justice fights against dangerous decisions when it comes to the planet.

GLAAD (LGBTQ+ rights): Since 1985, GLAAD has worked to ensure fair, accurate, and inclusive representation and creates national and local programs that advance LGBTQ+ acceptance.

Immigrant Legal Resource Center (immigration rights): The ILRC works to promote and defend immigrant rights, believing immigrants share a common vision with all Americans: a productive, happy and healthy life for themselves and their families.

How to Seal the Deal After an Interview

 question
Do you have any tips on what to send as a thank you/follow up after an interview? —H.

 answer
While we’re both big fans of thank you notes after interviews, you want to make sure whatever you send isn’t just another generic message. A few things to consider when crafting your note:

  1. Add something personal/relatable. If there’s anything that stood out in your conversation (maybe the fact that it’s zero degrees in the Midwest rn??), include it in your note! A simple “stay warm out there!” adds a nice personal touch.

  2. Confirm why they should hire you. Reiterate a few reasons why you’re the one for the job, based off of the interview conversation. Adding in something along the lines of “I’m confident that my experience with XYZ will contribute to the success of your team,” can help solidify you as the candidate, and then you can add anything you may have wanted to expand on but didn’t during the interview.

  3. Offer up additional information. If you have a portfolio or specific examples of work that would strengthen you as a candidate, send it along!

Got a Q? We wanna hear it here!

…after you meditate on your lunch break.

Negative temps this week absolutely call for MocktailGirlie’s hot toddy recipe. Cheers!

A painting was missing for over 90 years, until a historian recognized it in a scene from, wait for it…Stuart Little! (Excuse us while we now go turn on Stuart Little.)

There’s nothing better than a favorite family recipe. ❤️ Rosie Grant spends her time visiting cemeteries and making the recipes left on gravestones, and then connecting with loved ones of the deceased.

Thanks so much for reading! The good news? Only two more sleeps until the weekend. You can do it!
