How to stay calm in the chaos

We ❤️ you, LA

Hi guys. We’re sending extra love to our LA readers this week.

We’re not gonna lie. Lately, it’s been really hard to to keep our sanity through all of the heavy stuff going on in the world, so today we’re going to chat about some ways we can remain (somewhat) chill through it all.

Today’s tunes: Three words. Stress Relief Playlist.

How to Support During the LA Wildfires

It’s been over a week since wildfires broke out in Los Angeles that have made thousands of residents evacuate and have caused catastrophic damage to hundreds of homes and businesses.

While the fires spread rapidly, people have been forced to flee their homes as quickly as possible, many without anything except the clothes on their backs.

If you’re able to support those affected by these fires, we’ve listed several organizations and resources below. These are just a few of the many out there!

Thank you to everyone who has come together to help those in need during this tragic time. We 🫶you! Stay safe.

How to Stay Calm in the Chaos

Wildfires. Politics. Taxes due. Figuring out why our medical bills are so high even with insurance?? If life is feeling extra chaotic right now, just know that you’re not alone.

While it’s important to stay in the know of what’s going on in the world, the constant refreshing of our social feeds, and the news on the TV playing in the background while we work, isn’t always the best thing for us.

So we’re here to share some things we like to do when life gets overwhelming to make us feel a little more at ease, like:

Limit screen time: …we say as we type this from our MacBook. In all seriousness, our phones heighten our anxiety, especially if we’re constantly glued to them. Putting your phone on Do Not Disturb after a certain hour, or setting a time limit when using apps can help cut out a lot of noise. If you’re part of the ADHD fam, setting a timer can also really help when we get lost in our devices.

Read a book: Getting lost in a good book is something that can help redirect our racing thoughts and escape the real world, even just for a bit. Check out Good Reads’ list of the most popular books published in 2025 if you need a recommendation!

Exercise: From the wise words of Elle Woods…

Exercise is scientifically proven to release hormones which in turn improve mood, reduce stress, and relieve pain. The next time you’re feeling a little on edge, consider going for a walk around the block or popping on a short exercise video from YouTube to keep those scaries away. Home workouts on days where you can’t make it to the gym can really help with your sanity. A lot of apps like Peloton offer a 30 day trial.

With all that being said, it’s okay to feel the way you feel right now. There are a lot of unknowns going on and your feelings are valid!! Make sure to give yourself some time and grace to feel your feels and recognize what you need feel your best.

…INSTEAD of doom scrolling this week!!

Gabi here! I’m still dreaming about the piece of carrot cake with pineapple I had at dinner on New Year’s Eve, and Blue Bowl’s Pineapple Carrot Cake recipe may just be the way we recreate the masterpiece.

And just when we thought the show couldn’t get any funnier… the Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia crossover episode aired last week and we’re still laughing!

A bright light during a dark time. ❤️ We love this story about an LA resident who was reunited with his dog, Oreo, after being seperated due to the evacuations.

Thank you so much for letting be a part of your week! Take care of yourself, and take care of each other. See you next week.
