Summer Friday Guide: New York

Grab a coffee: Homecoming in Greenpoint, Caffè Aronne in the West Village (get the honey oat latte), Librae in Astor Place (get a seasonal drink and do not skip the rose pistachio croissant), Lodi in Rockefeller Center (do not skip the chocolate croissant—am I sensing a theme here?), and Yanni’s in Chelsea (this time do not skip the homemade cookies).

Librae 🤤

For lunch: Edith’s in Williamsburg for the best breakfast sandwiches (even for lunch), Regina’s Grocery in LES for amazing Italian sandwiches, and Bedford Cheese Shop near Gramercy Park for our team’s favorite Friday lunch.

NYC Bonus? Lunch dessert: No meal is ever complete without a sweet treat (it’s FRIDAY!). Caffe Panna is conveniently down the street from the Bedford Cheese Shop and has new ice cream flavor combos every. single. day.

A hidden gem: Do a ceramics class at Wilcoxson Brooklyn Ceramics or take a figure drawing class at Happy Medium in downtown Manhattan. Adult art classes!

Happy Medium

Happy Hour pick: Lela Bar in the West Village has great happy hour deals and great oysters (elite combo). The Wayland in the East Village has delicious drinks and indoor/outdoor vibes.

Rainy day activity: Search for cute outfits for better weather at a fun vintage store. Some favorites? 10 ft. Single by Stella Dallas in Williamsburg and The Niche Shop on the Upper West Side.

Sunny day activity: NYC is one of the best park cities in the world. Grab some friends, a bottle of rosé, some cheese from Trader Joe’s, and a blanket and vibe out (read: people watch). Some top-tier picnic spots: the piers on the West Side Highway overlooking the Hudson River, pretty much anywhere in Prospect Park, and in Central Park—the Great Lawn, Sheep Meadow, or any of the greenspaces around the 86th Street Transverse.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, take the ferry or subway to the Rockaways for a beach day. Get a hot dog and a beer at Rippers!

Central Park

Something cultural: The Whitney for a great mix of modern art with that downtown distinction or the Natural History Museum for your friend who says they don’t “get” art.
