The ups and downs of adult friendships
R u my friend? Check y or n

Hey guys! Today’s word of the day? Askew. Meaning not straight; at an angle. Ex: I was too impatient to measure when decorating, and now the artwork I put up hangs askew.
Song of the day: Twenty-four years ago to this very day, “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely” by the Backstreet Boys was number one on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. Do you feel as old as we do right now?

The Ups and Downs of Adult Friendships
It’s scientifically proven that friendships are essential in helping us stay healthy and happy, both physically and mentally. But our bonds with our buds change over time, while some end and others blossom later in life. A few things we try to remember about friendships as an adult?
Let go of what no longer serves you: Listen, you weren’t the same person you were 15 years ago, and neither is your friend. Everyone grows their own way, which sometimes means you have to go your own way, too. Some self-reflection can help understand that certain relationships in your life have moved on or outgrown themselves. Try not to dwell on it or view that friendship ending as a negative thing if everyone seems to be doing alright.
Change is Inevitable: While you used to chat on the phone with your bestie for two hours daily, there are only 24 hours in a day. The older we get, the busier we are, and we’re all in different stages in our lives. Just because it takes your friend five business days to respond to your voice note doesn’t mean they hate you. They’re most likely just busy changing a diaper or sending 57 “following up on this” emails… or maybe even both at the same time.
PS. It’s never too late to make new friends. In fact, both of us have met some of our closest friends later in life (including each other!!). From work friends to sports leagues, to neighbors, you never know when you may meet a new pal. Those changes in your past friendships we mentioned above may even help make way for someone who fills your cup exactly how you need it to be filled in this very moment.
