Hustle culture is so yesterday

Hiiii friends! Hope everyoneâs enjoying these first crispy days of fall. Weâre ready for some hot cider and cinnamon sugar donut (or 6) right about now.
Song of the day: Today weâre talking about how hustle culture is so yesterday, so weâre bumping this Hilary Duff banger as confirmation.

Three Signs Itâs Time To Rest

When we first entered the working world as âadultsâ (do we ever actually grow up??), hustle culture was alive and well⌠and encouraged. We were told that early mornings, late nights, and grinding ourselves into the ground would lead to promotions, a seat at the table, and ultimately, a rewarding career.
Well, weâre well into our careers, and guess the frick what? We are TIRED. Weâve realized the hustle culture dream we were sold isnât sustainable, so weâve politely unsubscribed and are prioritizing balance and, most importantly, rest. And as we learn more how hustle culture negatively impacts our productivity, health, and wallets, itâs clear weâre not the only ones needing a break.
Letâs chat about a few signs you might need a little repose, along with some ideas for how to actually do just that.
You feel guilty for not being productive.
If you plan to spend Sunday relaxing on the couch but canât stop thinking about the bajillion things you should be doing instead, hustle culture might have you in a chokehold. Rest isnât something you have to earn by finishing your to-do list (spoiler alert: itâs never finished)
Try this: Put your phone on DND, watch a little trash TV, and/or take a nap. No multitasking, no agenda. GIVE IT A TRY FOR ONCE, WILL YA?!
Being busy is your entire personality.
If âSO BUSY!â is your response every time someone asks how you are, and your calendar is blocked from the time you wake up until the time you go night night, itâs time to reassess.
Try this: Leave a little breathing room in your calendar. Saying no to plans can be tough. But if you don't have the energy for them anyway, it's time to treat yourself to a night with nothing going on. We promise the FOMO will fade.
Youâre sacrificing your joy for the grind.
If you're waiting for work to slow down before taking a vacation, seeing friends, or picking up a hobby, we have news: life will always be busy. Go enjoy it now!
Try this: Take the PTO, make those dinner plans with the friend youâve cancelled on multiple times (ugh), or pick up that hobby that makes you happy that you've been continuously putting off. Lifeâs too dang short; donât wait.
